Our Pochampally Ikat sarees carry the distinctive double-ikat weave made on traditional pit looms in the GI-tagged Pochampally cluster of Telangana. Because we weave and source directly, we can vouch for the origin of every piece — our handloom sarees are the real thing, never power-loom imitations sold as handloom. The very few budget pieces that are power-loom prints are always clearly identified as such (see the question below on this).

Most of our handloom sarees are one of a kind — a single piece, woven by hand and photographed individually. Once it's sold, that exact saree is usually gone for good. A similar design may return one day, but the precise colour-and-weave combination rarely repeats. So if a saree has caught your eye, it's best not to wait — the piece you're looking at may be the only one of its kind.

Every product photo is taken from the actual piece you will receive — never a stock image. Because handloom sarees are dyed and woven by hand, a very slight variation in shade can appear between a screen and the real fabric; this is the natural character of genuine handloom, not a defect. Most of our sarees include an attached or matching blouse piece — this is noted in each product's description. Where a blouse piece is included, it's woven or chosen to complement the saree. Proper care greatly extends the life and lustre of a handloom silk saree: (1) Dry-clean Kanchivaram and Banarasi Katan silks for the first few washes. (2) For Pochampally silk, use cold water with a mild fabric shampoo and wash separately to prevent colour bleeding. (3) Never wring or tumble-dry silk — gently squeeze out water and dry flat in the shade. (4) Store sarees in muslin cloth (not plastic) with a dried neem leaf to keep pests away. (5) Iron on the reverse at low heat. For cotton sarees, a gentle machine-wash cycle is fine after the first wash.
