A blue Pochampally double ikat pure silk saree with multicolour ikat through the body and a red animal-motif pallu — 6.3 metres including the blouse piece.
Animal motifs are the hardest thing a Pochampally weaver attempts. A geometric repeat can be corrected as the weaving goes; an elephant or a bird cannot — the outline has to emerge from threads that were dyed to shape months earlier, and if the resist was measured wrong the creature comes out distorted with no way to fix it. A clean animal pallu is the mark of a senior weaver.
Here it arrives in red against a blue body, with multicolour ikat filling the space between.

Care
Dry clean only. Red against blue is a bleed risk if the saree is ever stored damp, so air it after each wear. Wrap in muslin and change the fold line each season. Low iron from the reverse.
