An orange Kalamkari handloom silk saree, hand block printed with traditional motifs and finished with a contrast designer Kalamkari pallu and a coordinating designer blouse.
Every motif on this saree was pressed into the cloth by hand, one carved wooden block at a time. That is the reason no two orange pieces from the same run come out identical — a block set down a fraction off register, or a slightly wetter dye, and the print shifts. Those small differences are the proof of hand work, not a flaw in it.
The orange here is a saturated, festival orange rather than a rust or a tangerine, and the contrast Kalamkari pallu gives the drape its focal point.
