A pink pure mul cotton saree with hand embroidery worked across it — light, soft and made for Indian heat.
Mul is the lightest cotton woven in India. Hold it up and you can read through it; wear it in May and you will understand why it has survived every synthetic that was supposed to replace it. It comes off the loom slightly crisp and turns softer with every wash, so a mul saree you have owned for three years is better than a new one.
The embroidery here is done by hand, not by machine. Look at the reverse: the thread path wanders slightly, the stitch length is not identical throughout, and that is what tells you a person made it.

Care
Mul is genuinely washable. Hand wash in cold water with a mild detergent, no bleach, and do not wring — mul tears where it is twisted. Line dry in shade and iron while still damp for the flat finish. A starch once a season brings back the body if it starts to feel limp.
