Usually ready in 2-4 days
Double ikat is the hardest thing a Pochampally weaver can make — and this all-red saree shows why it is worth the effort.
How it is made
First, every warp thread (running lengthwise) is tied in tiny sections and dyed. Then the weft threads (running across) go through the same tie-and-dye process. Only when both sets are ready does weaving begin, and the weaver must line up each thread by hand so the patola motifs form exactly where the two meet. One slip and the pattern blurs, which is why a good double ikat takes weeks.
Why red on red works
With the border and pallu in the same red as the body, nothing distracts from the weave itself. The patola geometry becomes the star — rich, even and quietly grand. It is a favourite for brides who want a traditional red without heavy zari.
