Some sarees are made for the whole day — the early puja, the long lunch, the evening visitors. This one is among them. Uppada silk weighs next to nothing on the shoulder, so the drape stays crisp and comfortable from the first pleat to the last guest.
The body is a fresh sea green, pachcha in Telugu, the colour of mango leaves strung over the doorway. Across it are woven little butis in copper and silver, and a deeper green border carries the same two-metal buti weaving along the edge. The pallu is woven in copper — a metal softer to the eye than bright gold, rich without being flashy, and especially graceful in daylight.
The blouse piece is plain, leaving the butis and border to speak. Style it with antique temple jewellery or simple copper-toned jhumkas. A lovely choice for a gruhapravesam, Karthika Somavaram, Sankranti or a family wedding. Handwoven, one piece only.
