Mirror work and Kalamkari come from opposite ends of the country — one from the deserts of Kutch, the other from the temple towns of Andhra. Putting them on the same garment should not work, and yet it does.
The reason is contrast of surface. Kalamkari is flat, fine and linear; the mirrors are raised and reflective. Each one makes the other more visible. This blue floral set uses that pairing across the top, with a matching dupatta and bottom.
