On this pure Pochampally double ikat silk saree, the Ghat Chola grid is filled with elephant ikat motifs and outlined in golden zari. Because it is double ikat, every square and every elephant is formed by threads dyed before weaving — the weaver has to keep the grid straight across the full length, which is a true test of skill.
