A red handloom Banarasi silk saree with a gold zari border and a contrast green designer zari pallu, 6.3 metres including a plain blouse piece.
Banaras builds a saree the opposite way round to most weaving centres: the zari is not a finishing touch but a second structural thread, carried through the loom alongside the silk. That is why a real Banarasi has weight in the border, why the gold does not sit flat, and why the reverse side is almost as worth looking at as the front.
The green pallu is the design decision that makes this one. Red and gold is expected; ending it in green is not, and it is what you will be asked about.

Care
Dry clean only. Zari tarnishes with moisture and with contact against metal, so store it in muslin and keep it out of plastic covers. Iron on low, always with a cotton cloth between the plate and the zari.
