A patola in red is the saree people reach for when the occasion is not negotiable.
Muhurtham mornings, a wedding you are seated at the front of, the first Deepavali in a new house — red is not a preference at these, it is the expectation. What the patola grid adds is structure, so it never reads as a plain red drape. Stepped diamonds run the length of the body and the gold zari is carried all over rather than kept to the edges, which means the saree picks up lamplight from every fold instead of only along the pleats.
The pallu is where the design gathers: a designer Patola panel, heavier in pattern than the body. That is the half of a drape people actually see when you are sitting down.
Said plainly. The patola here is printed, not yarn-dyed on the loom. A genuine woven Rajkot patola begins near six figures. This gives you the same visual language on soft silk for a fraction of it, and we would rather you heard that from us than worked it out later.
6.3 m including the plain blouse piece. Soft silk, so it drapes straight out of the fold and carries no weight on the shoulder by the fourth hour. Dry clean only, and keep it dry — red is the classic bleed risk.
Available at srimanishasarees.com, or come and drape it at our Abids store before you decide.
