Only one of this saree exists.
In the haveli temple of Shrinathji at Nathdwara, painted cloths called Pichwai hang behind the deity and tell the leelas of Sri Krishna — the raas under a full moon, the flute among the grazing cows, Radha beside him at the lotus pond. This saree carries that devotional art onto its pallu. As the pallu falls over your shoulder, a story of Radha and Krishna unfolds figure by figure, so the drape itself becomes a katha told in silk.
The body is pure handloom silk in a radiant haldi yellow, worked all over in bandhani — thousands of tiny points pinched and tied by hand before dyeing, the craft that takes its name from the Sanskrit bandhan, to bind. Zari is woven through the body, so the dots catch the light like rows of diyas on Deepavali night. Framing it all is a Meenakari border, where jewel-coloured threads sit within the zari the way enamel is set into temple gold.
The blouse is a contrast red bandhej, completing the yellow-and-red pairing that every Indian household reads as shagun — auspicious. Wear it for Lakshmi puja, Karthika masam, Janmashtami or Radhashtami, for the pellikuthuru and haldi ceremonies, or as the saree the whole family remembers at a wedding. It is the kind of piece that is kept, not just worn — and once it leaves our Abids shop, there is no second.

- Length? 6.3 to 6.5 m in all — a long saree plus a large blouse piece, so there is plenty of fabric for pleats and drape.
- How do I care for it? Dry clean only. Air it after wearing, refold along a new line every few months and store it wrapped in cotton, away from damp.
- Will the colour match the photo? Photographed in daylight. Handloom yarn is dyed by hand, so a slight shade difference is natural. Ask us for a live video call before you buy.
