A white-and-gold saree is the one customers ask for most often, and for the widest spread of reasons. Convocations and degree days, the staff saree for a school or college function, a formal office event, a temple morning, Onam and the Kerala festival season, the drape a bride's family wears on the morning of a wedding — all of them want the same thing: clean white, honest gold, and no fuss.
This one adds a line of pink Pochampally weaving, which is what separates it from the plain kasavu shelf. The ikat is woven in, not printed on, and the pink reads as a soft blush against the white rather than a hard stripe. The pallu is zari-lined; a plain blouse piece comes with it.
Handloom cotton silk is the practical half of the choice. Cotton keeps it breathable through a long daytime event in Hyderabad heat; the silk content gives it enough body that the pleats stay sharp when you are standing for photographs.
