Blue and red is an old Banarasi pairing, and there is a reason it has lasted: the red stripes stop the blue from going cold, and the floral weaving between them softens both.
Handwoven Banarasi silk, sold by the metre and cut to the length you need. The pattern is built into the cloth on the loom, not printed on afterwards, so it reads the same from either side and will not fade off the surface.
Wears beautifully as: an occasion kurta, a structured jacket, or a blouse with a plain silk saree.
How much to order: 2.5 metres for a kurta, 3 metres with full sleeves, 2 metres for a blouse and dupatta.
Care: dry clean only. Fold in cotton cloth and keep away from direct sunlight.
