Mustard on Banarasi silk behaves like late-afternoon light — warm, deep, and quietly expensive from right across a room.
Woven by hand on Banaras looms, with a floral motif carried across the full body of the cloth rather than confined to a border. On handloom silk the weave catches light differently as you move; that shifting sheen is what separates a woven design from a printed one, and no photograph quite does it justice.
Why this piece is rare: an all-over weave keeps the loom occupied far longer than a bordered design, so lengths like this are made in very small lots. When a piece is gone, it is not rewoven.
How much to order: 2.5 metres for a kurta, 3 metres with full sleeves, 5.5 metres for a kurta with matching bottom. For a blouse and dupatta set, 2 metres is comfortable.
Care: dry clean only. Store folded in cotton cloth, away from direct sunlight.
