Purple is a difficult colour to get right in silk. Too blue and it turns cold; too red and it loses its dignity. This one lands where it should, and the copper zari worked over it does the rest.
Banarasi handloom silk with a designer weave running across the full fabric rather than sitting in a border. Copper zari against purple gives a warmth that gold cannot — it flatters most Indian skin tones in a way that bright metallic does not.
Wears beautifully as: a festive kurta, a wedding-guest co-ord, or a blouse that will be photographed.
How much to order: 2.5 metres for a kurta, 3 metres with full sleeves, 2 metres for a blouse and dupatta.
Care: dry clean only. Fold in cotton cloth; do not hang for long periods.
