Buy a multicolour patola and you stop having to match things.
That is the practical case for this saree, and it is a stronger one than it sounds. Bands of colour across the body mean almost any blouse works and almost any jewellery sits correctly against it — gold, oxidised silver, pearls, temple work, all of it. One saree, four or five completely different looks, depending on what you pair it with.

- A pink blouse, to pick up the pallu
- A plain black or deep green blouse, to let the body do the talking
- Gold for a function, oxidised silver for daytime
On the handprinting
The patola motifs are handprinted rather than yarn-dyed, so the edges carry the small irregularities of a hand-pulled block. No two pieces come out quite the same — which is the point, and also the reason we cannot reorder an exact match.
Cotton silk, 6.3 m including the 0.8 m designer blouse piece. Dry clean the first wash, then iron on medium from the reverse.
