How this set was made, in four steps:
One — the weaver maps the design on graph paper and works out which sections of yarn must resist dye. Two — those sections are bound tightly with thread and the bundle goes into the orange dye bath, leaving the bound parts white. Three — the ties are cut away and the yarn dried. Four — the pre-dyed threads are mounted on the loom and woven so the pattern reassembles itself in the cloth.
That is roughly two weeks of work before weaving even begins. The result is this orange and white Pochampally ikat set in pure handloom cotton, supplied unstitched as top, dupatta and bottom.

Is this stitched or unstitched?
Unstitched. Top, dupatta and bottom arrive as separate fabric pieces so your tailor can cut them to your exact measurements.
Why do the motif edges look slightly blurred?
That is the defining mark of true ikat. The pre-dyed threads can never align perfectly on the loom, and that soft edge is how you tell a woven ikat from a printed imitation.
How do I wash it?
Hand wash separately in cold water initially, then as normal. Always dry in shade — orange fades fastest in direct sun.
Will the colour look exactly like the photo?

Is only one piece available?
We buy in small lots, so most designs are one of a kind. Once a piece sells it rarely returns in the same colour.
How do I pay and where do you ship?
