Mustard is the quiet workhorse of a South Indian wardrobe. It sits well against black, against deep green, against plain white, and it holds its warmth in every kind of light. This is a deep mustard — closer to turmeric than to yellow.
Authentic Pochampally ikkat, handwoven in Telangana from pure cotton. The yarn is tied and resist-dyed in sections before it goes on the loom, so the pattern is built into the cloth rather than printed on top of it, and reads the same on both sides.
How much to order: 2.5 metres for a plain kurta, 3 metres with full sleeves, 5.5 metres for a kurta and matching bottom.
Care: first wash cold and separate, dry in shade, no bleach, medium iron.
