Festive season has a colour, and in this part of the country it is orange. Cut this deep orange Pochampally ikkat into a kurta for Sankranti, a co-ord set for Ugadi, or an everyday top that still looks like you made an effort.
Handwoven in Telangana on a traditional pit loom, with the yarn tie-dyed before weaving in the true ikkat method — that is where the softly blurred motif outline comes from. Pure cotton: breathable through a Hyderabad summer, and it only gets more comfortable with age.
How much to order: 2.5 metres for a plain kurta, 3 metres with full sleeves, 5.5 metres for a kurta and bottom together.
Care: cold wash separately the first time, shade dry, no bleach, medium iron.
