Kem cho! Navratri ni hardik shubhkamnao from Abids.
Nine nights, the beat of the dhol, the garbo glowing at the centre of the circle, and hundreds of feet turning as one to the raas. For Hyderabad's Gujarati families, Navratri is the year's brightest fortnight — and half the joy is deciding what to wear for each of the nine nights. This is a guide from a saree house in Abids that Gujarati families have trusted for their Patola and Bandhej since 1997.
Navratri 2026: the nine nights of Maa Amba
Sharad Navratri 2026 runs from Sunday, 11 October to Monday, 19 October, with Dussehra (Vijayadashami) on Tuesday, 20 October. Nine nights honour the Goddess — Maa Durga, Amba, Shakti — in her nine forms. In Gujarati homes the celebration gathers around the garbo, the perforated earthen lamp that stands for the divine energy of life, with garba and dandiya raas circling it late into every night. Between the dancing come the quieter moments too: the evening aarti, Sharad Purnima under the full moon, and the victory of Dussehra to close the season.
And a beautiful modern tradition ties it all together: a colour for every night. Across the community, women plan their nine outfits around the Navratri colour calendar — turning up in the same shade, the whole circle glowing in one colour as the night moves.
The nine colours of Navratri 2026 — and the Patola to wear
Here is the full 2026 colour calendar, with a Patola saree from our Abids collection for each night. Wear the colour of the day and you will never be out of step with the circle.

Gujarat's own weaves — Patola & Bandhej
Every Gujarati woman knows there is a difference between an outfit and an heirloom. Two weaves carry that heritage — and both live at our Abids store.
Patola — the geometry of Gujarat
The precise diamonds, parrots and flowers of the Patola weave are unmistakable, and they photograph beautifully under garba lights. We keep Patola silk sarees in a full run of colours — rani pink, royal blue, mustard, deep red, purple, off-white and more — in pure silk and softer cotton-silk. There is a reason it is the saree a Gujarati mother passes to her daughter.
Bandhej (Bandhani) — a thousand tied dots
The tie-dye craft Gujarat and Kutch are famous for, each tiny dot knotted by hand. Nothing says festival like a Bandhej drape catching the light. See our Bandhej silk →
For the garba & dandiya nights
The nights you will be spinning for hours call for movement and drama. Alongside our sarees we keep handloom festive lehengas with a full flare for the raas, and Patola dress material by the metre if you want a chaniya or blouse stitched exactly to your fit. Bring your ideas — mirror work, contrast dupatta, bandhej panels — and we will help you put the look together before the first night.
For aarti, Sharad Purnima & Dussehra
Not every evening is a dancing night. For the aarti, the Sharad Purnima full-moon puja, and Dussehra, a quieter drape is right — a pure silk saree in ivory-gold or a soft jewel tone, with a temple or zari border. Grace over glitter, for the moments that ask for it.
Come to Abids before the nights begin
Patola and Bandhej are textiles you buy by feeling them — the weight of the silk, the depth of the colour, the tie of the knot. That is why they are worth a visit rather than a scroll. At Sri Manisha Sarees, a family-run saree house on Chapel Road since 1997, you can see the whole nine-colour run in person, drape it before you decide, and have a blouse or fall stitched in time for the first garba. Aavo, padharo — come, and let us help you dress for all nine nights.
