Red & Mustard Banarasi Handloom Silk Fabric with Gold & Silver Zari (Per Metre)
Pickup available at Chapel Road Fateh Maidan Abids
Usually ready in 2-4 days
Two colours, alternating down the length — a deep red answered by warm mustard — with gold and silver zari worked across the whole fabric. This is a designer piece, and it looks like one.
Banarasi handloom silk, woven by hand. Using gold and silver zari together in a single cloth is deliberately difficult: the weaver changes the metallic thread as the pattern runs, and the two metals pick up light at different intensities. The effect is depth, not glitter.
Best suited to: a wedding-season kurta, a festive co-ord, or a statement blouse where the fabric is allowed to do all the talking.
How much to order: 2.5 metres for a kurta, 3 metres with full sleeves, 2 metres for a blouse and dupatta.
Care: dry clean only. Fold in cotton cloth; avoid hanging zari fabric for long periods.
From Sri Manisha Sarees, Abids, Hyderabad. We will happily show you the zari work up close on a video call.
